Overview
To visit Mt Everest in person, you may either train for years to climb its snowy top, walk over several days to get a look at the vistas from afar or take a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to see the Himalayas in all its majesty from the skies.
As you take off from Tribhuvan International Airport, you will soar above Kathmandu Valley, through verdant lowlands, terraced rice fields, and forests of juniper, rhododendron, and pine. Slowly, the lush greenery gives way to more steep slopes and sparse flora, revealing lichen-covered rock and snippets of snow. Soon after, you will be welcomed by amazing views of the mountains from up close. On the propeller jet leaving Kathmandu, everybody gets a window seat as two rows of single seats line the cabin on each side, giving everyone an excellent view of the Eastern Himalayas. Grab the seats on the left side of the plane to be the first to see the mountain, and attempt to grab a seat immediately in front of the wing for an unobstructed view of the region. You will get to see, Everest, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Ganesh Himal, Lantang, Makalu, Lakpa Dorje, and much more.
You will get informed on the flight about the mountains that can be seen from the view as well as be provided with a map showcasing the mountains by the air hostesses. The flight normally lasts between 50 minutes and an hour. The mountain flight does not just provide breathtaking views but also helps you grasp Nepal's geography.
Nothing compares to the overwhelming beauty and grandeur of the Himalayas. Take the Everest Experience, the mother of all mountain flights, where we put you face to face with Mt. Everest, so close you can nearly touch it.
